Well it's the lockdown period here in India and I am revisiting this blog .. this time to write something π
Dec2019 end : China was witnessing first case of Covid 19
Same time around in India : I encountered a stranger while I was returning my home from workplace.
It was a cold night and I was late , on top of it, it was a Tuesday. This is a weekday where congregation of market takes place in the rural area where I work.
So I was a bit angry that now the bus will be overcrowded and it will be late since there will be more commuters.
I boarded and from the next stop a huge crowd entered , thankfully I travel by city bus which has some seats reserved for ladies. So today, as always on Tuesday ladies stepped in the bus with their groceries and I was wondering now the cacaphony shall start.
After 7 minutes, to my relief, the bus started. My neighbor started chattering to the lady in the front, let's call her Miss X. So X was very happy that day and while chatting she gave 2 plants to my neighbor.
Out of curiosity and since I love plants I asked my neighbor, what's this veggie and how is it cooked? She replied, "Oh, this , it's a Tomato plant, the Desi (organic) one".
I took a sneak peak on X , since I also wanted the plantπ. She understood and handed me some 3 odd plants. With this she also said " Le lo Didi , Ghar mein lgana, jab inme tamatar (tomatoes) aayenge tab yaad toh karoge mujhe".
Translation : keep these Sister , when it bears the fruit , you would at least remember me.
Now out of those 3 , 1 plant survived. In February it started blossoming with yellow flowers. Till Feb end, I had 2 tiny tomatoes, the first ever vegetable grown by me.
And by March 21, I had my first ripe tomato. Now in this lockdown, as the tomatoes are growing and started to ripe I remember X a lot.
You never know what the words mean until they actually become reality. I never thought I would remember X and her words " Yaad toh karoge".
